Sometimes, the way we experience birth can be far from what we’d hoped. Difficult. Traumatic.
Sadly it’s little talked about or if it is, unhelpful phrases like “all that matters is a healthy baby” are heard. That should be a given.
And you matter too. Your experience, your feelings, your birth story - and how that effects you - that matters too.
There’s lots of reasons that you might have experienced birth as traumatic, and no one birth experience is ‘more traumatic’ than another.
It’s about how you have experienced it.
It’s about how it continues to impact on you now. And in the future.
It can be hard to talk honestly if your birth experience has effected you in this way, you’ve had a baby and you’re meant to be over the moon surely? Perhaps you’re worried that you’ll be judged in some way? Or that it feels too scary to talk about.

The 3 steps rewind technique involves the following steps, over 3 sessions:
1-Listening to your story of the traumatic event and explaining the process of the rewind technique (the beauty of this technique is that it still works if you prefer not to talk about the traumatic event). You will need to be able to remember it internally, but do not need to vocalise that memory if you prefer not to, though I always strive to create a safe space for you to be fully connected to your experience and emotions as they arise.
2-Guiding you into a state of deep relaxation, and using a visualisation technique to remember the event in a way that feels safe for you.
3-Visualising the future and how you will feel and behave once the memory no longer feels traumatic.
The 3 Step Rewind Program for Birth Trauma Recovery comprises of 3 sessions which can be held either in person here at Walnut Lodge at Bump to Baby, or live via video call.
Each session is an hour. The program is £249
